About Me

I'd like you to meet my ego
She sounds like me, but bragging.

Hi. I'm Catie. I'm an athlete, musician, nerd, and overachiever. However, most importantly and most relevant to this blog, I am a duct tape artist.

My use of duct tape dates back to sometime in middle school, when I repaired a pair of shoes with a big strip of bright red duct tape. Several years later I found the instructions for a duct tape covered dress, and since then I have been working with duct tape. I made pairs of shoes and vests, and an entire outfit.

When my love of plaid got the better of me, I made a rectangle of woven duct tape. My only thought of how to use the piece was to turn it into a wallet. Since then I have developed my technique and refined my use of duct tape as well as some cloth to produce very functional wallets and other accessories.

My Process:
What is unique about my duct taping process is that I work with the duct tape as tape, not as if it were fabric or some other material. I weave it while it is still sticky, creating a thin but elegantly bold exterior. I utilize the tape's characteristic strength and adhesion to produce a wallet with the most storage capability with the least amount of tape.

Each wallet I make is customized: made-to-order with your choice of two colors, woven into a checked exterior. Each of the products in my Etsy shop, and all the products and pieces you see on this blog, are my own design, crafted out of fascination and a determination to, as Tim Gunn would say, "Make it work."
